Manager as Coach: The Role Managers Can and Should Play in the Workplace with Dr. John Bennett

Season #1 Episode #7

What’s usually the single largest line item on an organizations’ operating budget? More often than not, it’s their people. People likely make up anywhere between 40-80% of an operating budget, depending on the organization. Upskilling your managers to be effective coaches allows you to invest in the people who make things happen. Manager-as-coach is a role managers can and should play in the workplace because effective coaching can mean the difference between keeping your employees stuck or empowering them to come up with their own solutions to challenges.

On this week’s episode, Dr. John Bennett shares how effective managers and leaders as coaches practice three powerful coaching techniques: 1) asking powerful questions, 2) creating and participating in feedback systems, as well as 3) actively listening. Learn all about which skills make up excellent coaches, how managers set boundaries, and an easy to use feedback model any manager can use in their coaching practice. Tune into the end to learn about John’s most recent paradigm shift.
